PENS AND PENCILS
Students up to Class I use pencils. In Class II each student will be awarded a ‘pen licence’ when the teacher considers his/her handwriting to be neat and tidy.
LKG AND UKG
The phonetic system of English is taught to the children. Children learn new concepts through ‘theme work’ and play activities. The emphasis in theme work is on the development of understanding, interest and spoken language. Parents are requested to interact with their children at home about the current theme being taught at School.
Students are evaluated by teacher observation.
UKG TO IX CLASS
The CBSE system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation is followed.
Term I: Formative Assessments I and II, Summative Assessment I
Term II: Formative Assessments III and IV, Summative Assessment II
Formative Assessments include tests, projects, assignments and practical activities. (See ‘Formative Assessments’ below.)
Summative Assessments are Term end examinations.
Formative Assessments include many ways of testing children, not just pen and paper exams. This includes projects, assignments, quizzes, debates, dramas, etc. The aim is to assess the student’s development in a wide range of areas, which are relevant to the global challenges and skills race of today. These are all graded and count towards the final results.
Given activities, projects, assignments and record books must be completed by the students on time.
In accordance with CBSE directives, all students will be awarded only grades to judge the merit of each student. There is no ranking.
We endeavor to do most projects within School time, to give teacher guidance and to ensure that it is the child’s own work. For this to work well, parents are requested to send any required resources to School on time. Intimation will be given well in advance.
The School will give the examination schedule at the beginning of the year. It is compulsory to sit the examinations at the given examination times.
Slip tests are now known as ‘assignments’ and are conducted at the end of each lesson. Assignment marks are a part of the Formative Assessments
SPORTS / CLUBS / EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Sports, clubs and ECA are an integral part of education in this School. All students are expected to participate in them for all round development.
Reports are comprehensive and cumulative. They cover a broad range of skills and attitudes, as well as exam results. After each examination the report will be sent home with your child. Please sign and return the report at Parent Teacher meeting.
MEETING THE TEACHERS
After each exam we will conduct a session for you to discuss your child’s progress with the teachers. Communication between home and school is vitally important.
We request you to attend all meetings with the Principal or teachers without fail, when you are called.
These are awarded annually to students from Class IV to Class X, based on high achievement in the previous academic year. ‘Topper’ prizes are given to high achieving students from Class I to Class III. Prizes will be awarded to children having 100% attendance.
This will be recorded daily in the School diary, according to the School homework timetable. Please see that your child completes the homework. Sign the diary daily to acknowledge that your child’s homework is complete.
LEAVE AND ABSENCES
Apply for leave by using the Leave Record page in the school diary. The student must obtain the Principal’s signature. In the event of an unforeseen absence, it must be explained on the first day of returning to School by using the Absence Record in the school diary.
The School will issue a list of holidays at the beginning of the year.
Students may wear civil dress on their birthday. Please do not send jewellery. No distribution of sweets, cakes or other items is permitted in the School premises or on School buses.
Medical checkups are conducted during the year. Parents will be notified if their child needs to be referred to a specialist.
The School may send urgent messages by SMS to parents’ cell phones about changes in School schedule. Please inform the school whenever your cell phone number or address changes.
Facebook and other social networking sites are banned for students. Please caution your ward not to have any such accounts.
